The World Government Summit launched a report called Agriculture 4.0 – The Future Of Farming Technology, in collaboration with Oliver Wyman. According to the report, 70 percent more food would have be produced by 2050.

A number of global trends are influencing food security, poverty, and the overall sustainability of food and agricultural systems

To meet challenges facing Agriculture industry, a concerted effort by governments, investors, and innovative agricultural technologies is required. Agriculture 4.0 will no longer depend on applying water, fertilizers, and pesticides uniformly across entire fields. Instead, farmers will use the minimum quantities required and target very specific areas. Therefore, farms and agricultural operations will have to be run very differently, primarily due to advancements in technology such as sensors, devices, machines, and information technology. By leveraging on precision agriculture and robotic systems, farming will more profitable, efficient, safe, and environmentally friendly.
